Read this book!

Someone on another blog suggested this book (thanks, Maria!) so I picked it up after her enthusiastic review.  Rainwater, by Sandra Brown, is set in the early 1930’s.  Ella runs a boarding house and is the mother to nine-year-old, Solly, who is autistic.  Very little was known about autism in the early part of the century, and Ella must fight constantly to protect Solly and help him lead as normal of a life as possible.  A new boarder, David Rainwater, impacts not only Ella’s life but also Solly’s and the entire community.

This book flows easily and moves at a quick pace.  It would be a great choice for a book club or just casual weekend reading.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll throw it out there for the book club!
