Read this book!

A friend suggested I read this book.  (Thanks, Cathy!)  Against Medical Advice is the story of Cory, a previously-normal 5-year-old who wakes up one day with the uncontrollable urge to shake his head.  Eventually diagnosed with Tourette’s and OCD, the book is told in Cory’s voice and describes what it’s like to live in a world where one has no control over his own body.  The treatments and drug regimens prescribed to Cory – for both Tourette’s and OCD – are almost as debilitating as the diseases themselves.

The book is co-authored by bestselling author James Patterson and Hal Friedman, Cory’s father.  It’s a quick, highly interesting read.
