Say what?

Alissa and Ashley were playing with their dolls.  I was sorta paying attention, listening with half an ear.  Suddenly I heard the doll say:

“Well, DAMN IT!!!”

Excuse me?  “Alissa!” I said.  “You don’t say that.”

“Why not?” she asked.

“Because it’s not a nice thing to say.  Don’t use that phrase again.”

“Okay,” she said.  “Only mommies can say that.”

ACK.  While I promise I’m not a regular potty mouth – especially around my children – road rage MAY have gotten the best of me the other day.  And Alissa misses nothing from her vantage point in the back seat.

She totally busted me.

“No,” I said.  “Mommy shouldn’t say that.  I’ll try not to do it again.  Deal?”

“Deal,” she said.  And you know, she won’t forget.  She forgets nothing.  It’s like having my own little Jiminy Cricket.  Which is probably what I need.
